Flawless by name...

Flawless

At Royal & Derngate

LAST night's entertainment was Flawless by name, flawless by nature.

So much was this the case that unlike some other productions it started on time, leaving those latecomers still hurrying to try to find their seats missing out on the start of a great show.

The group shot to fame on Britain's Got Talent two years ago, making it through to the final.

They didn't win but choreographer and founder Marlon Wallen said they went on the programme to gain the exposure they otherwise would have found it hard to come across.

They have a lot to be grateful to Simon Cowell et al on the ITV1 show for because in Thursday night's audience there was hardly a spare seat in the auditorium. Mission accomplished.

Chase the dream and not the competition is Flawless's slogan, but it's hard to imagine anyone taking them on in a contest. If there was it would be one hell of a competition for the spectator.

At the start of the performance, it was made clear the group wanted the audience to go away to feel inspired to achieve their dreams, whatever they may be.

It must have been one of the most uplifting shows I've seen in a long time, because I left in a really positive frame of mind, although my attempts at trying to 'bust some moves' on the way to my car are something I'd rather erase!

The first half of the show had quite a powerful meaning behind it, about giving people a chance in life and being what you can be, and cleverly intertwined music, dance and montages on a big cinema screen behind.

After the interval, the audience was given a pair of white gloves and a hand dance routine to learn before Flawless re-took the stage as passengers on an intergalactic flight.

Four were chosen to lead the dance routines, including tributes to the late, great king of pop Michael Jackson.

Flawless have a phenomenal amount of energy on stage. Marlon said he wanted the right people for the job, who would gel and work together as a team. Again, his decision worked because all the moves were in sync and there was a really positive vibe between the performers which translated perfectly.

Some of their moves and choreography was outstanding and would have left most, if not all of the audience, in awe.

From head spins, to hand stands, to snakes across the floor, the show had it all and was an incredible advert for street dance.

Although the tour has left Northampton, it is still travelling up and down the country and it is definitely one not to be missed - just make sure you turn up on time.
