More than 1,000 people visited a jobs fair in search of employment.
Michael Ellis, MP for Northampton North, hosted the event which was attended by small, medium and large companies.
He was ‘delighted’ by the response at the University of Northampton which meant the team were rushed off their feet.
Mr Ellis said: “We had 40 businesses attending as well as some charities. A number of them will be recruiting as a result of this event and I have been asked if I can organise another fair for next year.
“This is definitely something I am looking into and will be writing to all the businesses to get their views. My reason for holding the event was to try to get jobseekers from Northampton and the surrounding areas into work and get the engine of the economy running.
“This is not something MPs usually do but I felt this was a good project.”
