Princess Benedikte visits the town
The town was greeted by a Princess yesterday.
Her Royal Highness Princess Benedikte of Denmark came to Northampton to mark the strong trade links between her country and the town.
HRH Princess Benedikte opened the Carlsberg brewery in Northampton – the first outside its homeland of Denmark – in 1974 and almost 40 years on, she was welcomed back to mark both the historic connections and the future economic partnership.
She first visited the Museum and Art Gallery to view shoes worn by her greatgreat- grandmother Queen Victoria before heading off to the Guildhall for lunch and to see the Northampton Alive exhibition.
