Gym can't fix it in row over costume

A row has been sparked after a gym user claimed her swimming costume was shredded by equipment at a fitness centre.

Amanda Fox, 20, a fashion and marketing student at the University of Northampton, visited Overstone Park Leisure Centre last week and after using the pool attempted to dry her brand new costume in the dryer.

However, she claims, after using it as directed, the machine left the £38 item in tatters.

Miss Fox (above) raised the issue at the centre and said she was told by a staff member that if she returned with a replacement costume and the receipt she would be fully refunded. However, on return, she says this was disputed.

Miss Fox, of Willow Rise, Little Billing, said: “I have been a gym member there for more than two years. I was completely shocked when they said the company wouldn’t take any responsibility.

“It was a brand new costume and it has now cost me a lot of money.”

Nigel Wardle, general manager at the Centre, refused to answer questions about the incident.

When pressed about only having one side to the story he said: “I am saying no comment. I don’t wish to be rude but there is no comment.”

He then hung up
