A female horse rider was airlifted to hospital on Sunday after she injured her leg when falling from her horse.
The Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) were called to the scene, near Kettering, at about 11am – landing on the grounds of a nearby farm.
They then assessed the casualty for injuries and administered pain relief. The crew then immobilised the patient to keep her injured leg stationary during the flight to prevent any further injury.
She was airlifted to Peterborough General Hospital for further treatment.
Equestrian accidents are often attended by an air ambulance due to their inaccessible locations and the type of injuries that are sustained.
These type of incidents account for about 10 per cent of all WNAA’s call outs.
