A PLAN to help regenerate Wellingborough town centre is being drawn up.
Wellingborough Council has embarked on a year-long investigation on what needs to be done to secure Heritage Lottery Funding.
The council has been given development funding of £50,000 to help progress plans for the next stage of the project to try and scoop £1,475,000.
This phase will include the undertaking of surveys on key properties such as the Grade II
Hind Hotel and the former club house of the Royal Antediluvian Order of the Buffaloes (RAOB).
Once all these pieces of work are complete then the council will submit this to the second round of applications.
If this is in accordance with the agreed principles and acceptable to the HLF then the remaining funding will be released.
This further money will form part of the grant scheme and will be provided to key properties which will be identified over the next year.
Chairman of the development committee, Cllr Graham Lawman, said: “We have got to come up with a plan of what needs to be done.
“There are two projects we are looking at, The Hind Hotel and the RAOB building.
“We will have one year to produce this report.
“A lot of the work will be specialized so we need to analyse the cost.
“This is the very early stages and if we need to spend less than the £1,475,000 we could use it on other buildings.”
