Charity shop is off to a flyer

BY LAWRENCE JOHN

A NEW furniture charity shop which is raising funds for the Warwickshire & Northamptonshire Air Ambulance (WNAA) has got off to a flying start.

Since the charity opened the premises in Wellingborough two weeks ago it has been inundated with volunteers and donations.

The WNAA helicopter flew over the town to mark the official opening and the first sofa was sold within minutes.

Caroline Poynter, WNAA shop manager, said: “It has gone even better than we could have hoped for.

“We have smashed all our predicted sales targets and have to say a huge thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers. We couldn’t do it without them. We have had a wonderful response to the new shop.”

The store is keen to hear from any male volunteers who could help out at the Market Place store on Saturdays when there is a high turnaround of furniture from the shop floor to stockroom.

Large items purchased are delivered for free in the Wellingborough area.

If you have items for donation or want to find out more about volunteering call 01933 275554.

- WNAA flew 1,001 missions last year.

Each mission costs on average £1,400. The service receives no Government funding or National Lottery support.
