WELLINGBOROUGH Council is set to publish any spending done by councillors or officers online by the end of the year.
The borough council is keen to follow in the footsteps of the county council which is publishing an online list of all payments to suppliers across all council departments which cost more than £500.
Deputy leader of Wellingborough Council, Cllr Paul Bell, is keen to get these figures published.
Cllr Bell said: “We are in the process of doing this and it should be in place by late this year.
“We are following the county council which is putting anything spent over £500 on line.
“I think it is an excellent idea and we are going to be following this with members’ expenses and allowances.
“I think it will make a difference as people will be able to see how the council spends it money and the chief executive doesn’t earn £150,000.
“You will get an opportunity to see what the council is costing you.
“It will show a number of councillors do not claim expenses and not all their allowances.”
