Crowds to cheer the Olympic torch's trail

Olympic torchThousands of spectators are expected to flock to Wellingborough to see the Olympic torch when it comes to town tomorrow

The flame will be carried by 11 torchbearers as it travels through the town centre and on to Isham on Monday.

Restrictions will come into effect in the early hours and remain in place until the flame has gone through the borough.

 

Parking will not be allowed along Sheep Street, High Street, Broad Green or Harrowden Road in Wellingborough and any parked cars causing an obstruction along the route run the risk of being moved by the police.

All roads along the torch relay route will be closed from 10.30am.

Roads leading onto the route will also be affected, meaning that road closures will include London Road, Sheep Street, Oxford Street, High Street, Harrowden Road, Broad Green, Isham High Street and A509 Isham.

The flame is expected to begin its Wellingborough journey at about 11.20am by the Dog and Duck pub on London Road.

It will be carried through the centre before leaving the town at around 11.50am.

There will be no entry or exit allowed from the Castlefields retail park or Jackson’s Lane car park for the duration of the road closures.Some bus journeys may be disrupted.
