Daredevil Catherine set for parachute jump

A lifetime ambition is to be fulfilled by one brave soul.

On Sunday Catherine Simpson, from Rushden, will be taking part in a tandem skydive to raise money for Make-A-Wish Foundation UK.

The charity makes dreams a reality for children and young people across the UK who are fighting life threatening conditions.

Miss Simpson said: “It’s actually been a lifelong ambition of mine so to have the opportunity to do it – and raise money for such a good cause at the same time – I couldn't refuse. I would say though as it approaches I am now feeling pretty nervous and I’m hoping I’m one of the first to go, so I don’t have time to think about it too much.” She will jump from around two miles up in the sky, free-falling for around 45 seconds and reaching speeds of up to 120mph, before floating back down to earth.

The skydive will take place at Hinton Airfield, Oxfordshire. Miss Simpson hopes to raise at least £325. To sponsor her, visit www.justgiving.com/catsimpson.
