The competition, run by Black & White Photography magazine, attracted entries from around the world including America, China, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Norway, Ireland and the UK.

David, a former quantity surveyor said: “I have been taking pictures since I was a teenager which was a long time ago.

“I enjoy doing my own developing and printing as I enjoy the craftsmanship of this aspect of it all.

“I retired a year ago and taking the pictures and doing them this way appealed to me.

“This picture was taken in the Lake District at Rydal Water.”

To get this shot, David was at the water at about 7am.

This is not the first award David has won but it is his first for a long time and he is proud of his latest achievement.
