A RUSHDEN-based care agency served an ace when it scooped a new contract from Northamptonshire County Council
Serve of Rushden, which has been providing care in the community for nearly 30 years, has announced it will be providing a new hospital aftercare service from October.
Chief executive of Serve, Barry Graves, said this service would bring a new dimension to the organisation.
He said: “We really set our stall out to win this contract.
“The county council invited companies to tender and we havebeen selected as the preferred provider.”
The new contract comes on the back of a Rapid Response discharge service which Serve has been running since the beginning of the year.
Mr Graves said: “There is no doubt the Rapid Response work we have been engaged in has provided us with a tremendous amount of knowledge about patient discharges.
“We have helped over 400 people in six months to leave hospital early and being able to offer direct support with aftercare will ensure that more people stay at home and are not re-admitted to hospital.
“Serve currently employs 63 care workers and this new contract will help to create extra jobs in the area and we are currently recruiting. It is an exciting time for us.”
Although Serve is mainly known within Rushden, Higham Ferrers and surrounding areas the discharge and aftercare services will operate right across the county.
