THE WOMAN who died following a fatal rod incident has been named by police as 28-year-old Janette Smith of Somerford Road, Wellingborough.
The incident happened in Overstone on Saturday morning shortly after 11.05am.
Two horse riders were riding in tandem along the Sywell Road in Overstone, heading from Overstone towards Sywell.
Police said for reasons unknown, both horses were startled and one of the riders was thrown from the horse and was pronounced dead at the scene.
