Northampton Town youngster Daniel Banister is one of three players who have been nominated for League 2 Apprentice of the Year in the Football League Awards 2012.
The midfielder is up for the accolade along with Crewe Alexandra’s Nick Powell and Miles Storey, of Swindon Town.
Banister’s consistent youth team performances, alongside his academic achievements off the pitch, have led to him being shortlisted for the award.
David Wetherall, Head of Youth Development at the Football League, said: "Young players are the lifeblood of League clubs and this award recognises and celebrates the very best, exciting talent developed at League clubs.
"Each one of the nominated players has demonstrated his talents both physically and academically over the last year and I wish them all luck on the night and for the rest of their careers."
Judges looked at the playing record of the apprentices, educational attainment, disciplinary record and other outstanding achievements when assessing the category.
This year's Football League Awards sees a total of 17 awards with the winners being announced at the gala ceremony at The Brewery, London on Sunday March 11.
