Jack Brooks has been rewarded with a place in the 16-man England Lions squad for their tour to Bangladesh in January.
The right arm seamer enjoyed his career-best season for Northamptonshire in 2011, taking 43 first class wickets at an average of just 21.90.
Brooks, who was signed from Minor Counties side Oxfordshire ahead of the 2009 season, was also called up to the England Performance Programme (EPP) in October.
His impressive form during the season saw him linked with a move away from the County Ground, but he turned down approaches from other counties to sign a new two-year deal.
The 27-year-old will be hoping to feature in Bangladesh as he bids to force his way into the reckoning for a place in the full England team.
ECB performance director David Parson said: "We have selected a young squad for this tour which is in line with our strategy of looking ahead to the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup and identifying and working with players who may be able to go on and play a role for England in the future.
"These players have worked extremely hard over the last couple of months with a strong focus on limited overs cricket.
"This tour presents a good opportunity for these players to continue to develop their skills in subcontinent conditions on what will no doubt be a challenging tour of Bangladesh as well as push for selection for future England squads."
The tour consists of five 50 over one-day games against Bangladesh A, followed by two Twenty20 matches between January 8 and 23. They will also play in a practise match on January 6.
Nottinghamshire batsmen James Taylor captains the side that was selected from those invited to attend the EPP two months ago.
