Northampton Town have offered three of their top youngsters professional contracts for next season on the back of the youth team’s impressive season.
Goalkeeper Paul Walker, midfielder Michael Jacobs and striker Alex Konstantinou have all been key players in the side that currently top the Football League Youth Alliance South East Conference.
First team manager Ian Sampson has praised the trio for earning professional deals and believes that they have a bright future if they all work hard.
He said: “Paul, Michael and Alex have all traveled with or been involved with the first team this season and have shown what they can do both in training and in the reserves. We don't give contracts out easily but they have earned their offers.
“This is just the start of the hard work for them, but they have a chance and if they continue to work hard, listen and progress, then they will be giving themselves the best chance of carving out a good career for themselves.
“It is not often you offer three players from the same year professional contracts but the fact that we have is a tribute to their hard work and the work of head of youth Geoff Harrop, coach Sean Parrish and their staff.”
