Cullinane take javelin gold

Sam Cullinane warmed up for this weekend’s AAA Under-23 Championships by taking gold in the senior women’s javelin in Birmingham on Sunday.

Rugby & Northampton AC member Cullinane was competing in wet and windy conditions, but won with a furthest throw of 42.79m at the Alexandra Stadium.

The 19-year-old now heads to the national championships in Bedford on Sunday, where she will hoping to break her personal best distance of 44.95m which was achieved earlier this year.
