Sam Cullinane had to settle for a ninth place finish at Sunday’s UKA Aviva Olympic Trials, with the Northamptonshire javelin thrower managing a best of 43.40m.
Cullinane had broken her previous personal best at the English Under-23 Championships in Bedford the week before, going over 50metres for the first time.
That was good enough to qualify her for the Olympic trials at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium, but she was unable to replicate her recent form.
Cullinane’s best throw came on her first attempt, while she also recorded throws of 42.62m and 42.44m in her second and third attempts respectively.
